Check out the details for each workshop below, running over both weeks of the school holidays, Monday-Thursday. No extra cost to stay over lunch time and attend both workshops in a day. 9:00-3:30. Just BYO lunch, or, you might not even need lunch if you come on a day when we’re making sushi or burgers etc.

Week 2 Workshops: 6-9 October

Two days of 'Japanese For Fun' workshops and 2 days of 'Around The World'...

Monday 6 October
Japanese Art & Craft: 9:00-12:00

This tutorial shows you how to make these really cute japanese paper dolls which could be beautiful bookmarks...Create kawaii paper dolls. These make brilliant gifts, bookmarks and decorations. Also, have a go at drawing 'anime', Japanese animation, characters, or, continue paper-folding with some origami.

Cost including materials and morning tea: $15



Japanese Art: 1:00-3:30

Try out traditional Japanese sumi-e ink painting. 
Have a go at shodo - the art of Japanese writing with ink. Choose your best piece of art to frame. There is also the option of independent origami making - plenty of paper and origami books to keep you busy.

Tuesday 7 October
Origami Garden: 9:00-12:00

Embrace spring, create an origami garden setting to take home for play and display. Frogs, butterflies, flowers, mushroom and ducks, are a few of the garden goodies you could create for your setting. Your origami garden could be a cool starting point for a stop motion project. Although our focus will be on creating a garden, all are free to work on alternative origami projects.

Sushi Workshop: 1:00-3:30


Develop your sushi rolling skills. Choose from a variety of fillings and take some sushi home to share. Also, make inari and practise your chopsticks skills. Bring a container so that you can take some sushi and inari home.

Around The World! All suitable for ages 6-14...

Wednesday 8 October

Fantastic French: 9:00-12:00
  • Make delicious crepes
  • Create a miniature Paris
  • Design a 'high fashion' newspaper outfit and strut your stuff on the catwalk
All inclusive cost: $15
Mysteries of Egypt: 1:00-3:00
  • Have a taste of Egyptian food
  • Experiment with hieroglyphics
  • Get mummified! Don't worry, it's just a game...
  • Make a paper pyramid

Optional: bring a small toy from home that you’re happy to mummify and put in your pyramid. E.g. a lego man, Kinder Surprise toy…

Thursday 9 October
Mexican Madness: 9:00-12:00

  • Colourful Mexican crafts and games
  • Make empanadas, yum! 
All inclusive cost: $15

Aussie Aussie Aussie: 1:00-3:30
  • Experiment with Aboriginal art
  • Masterchef Australia: who can create the best Aussie Burger?

All inclusive cost: $15
